Hey Everyone!
Well this week everyone except Sister Wheelwright got what we have
dubbed "the plague!" Basically it starts out with your throat getting super sore
and your tonsils feel like they have tripled in size. Then you feel like death
for about 24 hours and then it just goes back to a sore throat and you start
feeling better. I hit the death stage yesterday (Sunday) and today my throat is
still pretty sore but I no longer feel like death(until the Advil wears off! It
was a good day to feel like death though because it was storming like crazy so
it would have been hard to get work done. Ok now to remember what happened
during my week.
Monday was fairly uneventful. We finished up P-day and then we went
out to tract but then Sister Wheelwright didn't feel well so we came back in.
Tuesday we had district meeting and then I headed to Douglas on exchanges with
Sister Madsen! It was really fun! I love Douglas because everyone there is SO
southern and they all have really strong southern accents. It's awesome! We had
a really good time and talked about lots of things. She really helped me with
some of the things I have been struggling with lately and I was able to help her
get better at using the Pamphlets especially on teaching the "Plan of
Salvation" she says that one has always been hard for her to teach. She is a
pretty awesome missionary! I went to the meeting with their ward mission leader
and he has one of those" Segway" (pretty sure I spelled that totally wrong)
things that you stand on and zoom around on that he wanted us to ride, like the
"zoomy" things off of "Mall Cop" the movie! He was really impressed that I
didn't fall off the first time because he said that most people do because its a
weird feeling. Whatever, I just have skills! It was really fun, those things are
cool! Then I came back to Valdosta. I don't really remember what happened on
Wednesday. We had coordination meeting and then we did something. Thursday was a
good day! That was the day the other sisters had the" plague "so they stayed in
all day. We went to Quitman (small town) and spent quite a bit of time out
there. Then we had dinner with the senior couple and went to a lesson with them!
They are way cool! They are both converts, from the South-ish. Sister Swank's
dad was a Presbyterian minister! She said he had a hard time with her
conversion. Then they went with us to a lesson! We had a lesson with Dot, she is
always interesting. Last week she told a story about how she cast out a "demon"
and this week she said she believes in "Black Jesus"! That is a big thing in the
South. You have to be careful with how you talk about Jesus or people will go
on a rant about"Black Jesus". It was a pretty good lesson though! Then Friday we
worked on our map a lot. We got a lot done! There is a ridiculous amount of less
actives though. If we could activate everyone in Quitman they could totally have
their own branch! Oh and we did visit an old lady who lives in Quitman who kept
asking us the same questions. It was pretty funny. She is really sweet though.
She asked us if we were enjoying the weather like four times. Saturday was good,
we had lunch with Mary, she is so cool! She is going to take us to Cracker Barrel
Thanksgiving morning! We have not had any Thanksgiving invites this year! It has
been so weird! Last year we had a ton. I take that back we just had a family
invite us over and they are awesome so we are excited! The poor Elders haven't
had any invites yet, I feel really bad for them! The Stake is doing this really
cool "He is the gift initiative", kind of like what they did at Easter except
bigger! We even get special pass along cards for it! I am super excited!
Saturday I started feeling really bad, I got the fever and chills and my throat
felt so sore and swollen but we had an appointment to teach a recent convert
family who are really cool and love us to come over and talk with them about
what they are reading in the Book of Mormon. (their house is not the cleanest
but they are cool). I did not want to take my germs to their kids or them but
my companion had a bit of an issue about going with one of the other Sisters in
our apartment because of this house issue. I told her that these people needed
to be visited and they were expecting the missionaries to come! I finally lost
my "temper" a bit and told her that If she did not go that I was going to
"shiver" my way to their house with her in tow and that she was not having
"Charity for them and they just wanted to learn more about the Book of Mormon"!
She then went with one of the other Sisters and they were visited and it all
turned out well! Yesterday (sunday) I mostly just felt like "death" all day,
though we did have a lesson with the part member family. He has been almost two
weeks without smoking! Yay! We also got a call from the temple square sisters
who have been working with him and they get to skype in for the baptism! It's
going to be way awesome! It was weird to get a call from Utah. I have been
reading" Acts" this week and I have decided that Paul is kind of like the New
Testament version of" Elder Holland". He is pretty intense. Anyway I was reading
and I really loved this scripture! Well I can't remember the scripture so it
will have to wait until next week! My Advil is wearing off and I am starting to
feel really awful again! Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Remember to say
"Thanks" for your blessings! I am saying Thanks for having the knowledge to
know what drugs to take that my super smart Dad had me bring out here just for
these occasions of sickness! I love you all!
Love,
Sister Price
(Note from Sis. Price's Mom, she is feeling much better as of Thanksgiving
Day. The sweet family that fed them dinner sent us a text and picture of her
and we were able to ask some questions that she could answer, so we know she is
again Healthy and strong! We are thankful for the kindness of the members in
Georgia assisting our loved Missionaries!)
