FORD FUSION STUCK IN THE MUD!! DECEMBER 22, 2014

STUCK IN THE MUD WITH OUR FORD FUSION, THIS PICTURE DOES NOT SHOW HOW MUCH IT IS RAINING OR HOW DEEP THE MUD IS!!

GET A LITTLE MUD ON THE TIRES!- OR ALOT!! MERRY CHRISTMAS- DECEMBER 22, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Well this has been quite the week. It felt really slow after all the craziness of last week but it was still a really good week! Monday we had a lesson with Dana, she is super awesome! We taught her the stop smoking program (I asked her what was in this smoking cessation package-it contains- New toothbrush, cinnamon mouthwash, cinnamon toothpaste, vitamin C chewable tablets, Grapefruit juice. Sister Price says it does seem like an odd combination but she has seen this work time after time on her mission with success. Even over all the expensive patches and pills and programs that people have tried over and over- Sis. Price also says that this pack contains one more thing that is the best - Faith and the help of priesthood blessings).  One thing about Swainsboro, EVERYONE smokes. Pretty much every house you go in reeks of cigarette smoke and I have to wash my clothes all the time because I feel like thats all I smell like. It's bad. She is super excited to start though! She just has to wait until she can afford all of the supplies. She is really great though and we love her. She has a super cute little girl who is 2 and everything is "cute" or "purdy" and she love to get our cameras and look through the pictures. She calls it the "cheese." She loves to find my lipstick and methodically take everything out of my bag and then put it all back in again, she randomly likes to try on our shoes! Our next project is her husband. He is awesome and will be a great member, he is just a little wary of churches because he grew up going to" Church of God"(think hollering and speaking in tongues) and it scared him! We also have to convince him that going to church on Sunday is more important than hunting and fishing! It's really funny because since Dana has started meeting with us she has been bugging him about going to church but he has gone off hunting every weekend. I guess she told him that he wasn't going to shoot anything because he should be at church and since she said that he hasn't shot anything! I thought that was really funny. She says he is really stubborn but I have a lot of experience with people who are really stubborn. Myself included. We were at walmart and I had a prompting to buy some advil, I knew that I did not need any but I have learned to follow promptings, I bought some and then we had an appointment with Dana, she answered the door and had a really bad toothache and did not have anything.  I had the advil! I gave it to her and she was so thankful, always follow promptings!! We usually have a really good mix of tracting and finding and teaching. We have found some really awesome people this week! Saturday we tried an old referral from online and they didn't live there anymore but we found this really awesome lady who said she would read the Book of Mormon and we have a return appointment with her! Yesterday we were tracting and trying people and almost everyone let us in and were really nice! We even had a few who were interested and we got return appointments with them! It was really awesome but also really not normal. It felt like we weren't even really in Georgia. On Saturday we made cookies with the Ference's. They are a less active family we are working with and they are really cool. We went over and made tons of cookies and then she was so sweet and bought us these cute Christmas tins from the dollar store and wrapped them up for us to give out to people! She is super nice. They feed us twice a week and we have been having THEM  teach us the lessons so that is fun too! We are also teaching their granddaughter who is living with them because she just turned eight and they want her to be baptized. Well now I will tell about the adventure of last night. It had been raining all day yesterday and it was raining pretty hard last night. We were trying to find an old referral and were turning around on a dirt road and Sister Woodard was trying to turn around without me having to get out and back her up because it was raining. Well we ended up getting stuck in the mud! We tried many things to get unstuck but to no avail. We were stuck. The problem is, everyone in the branch is old, so they can't help push us out and they all have small cars! We were going through the list of people in our phone trying to decide who could help us. Finally we tried calling a guy we used to teach who is the son of one of the members. He was really nice and came with his truck and pulled us out! We gave him some Christmas cookies after. It was quite the adventure though! We got super muddy and wet trying to get ourselves unstuck. The guy who helped us had a super thick southern accent. I will have to try and imitate it when we skype. It's pretty great! It is truly the South here, some of the sayings I hear frequently "Cut the lights on" and "Buggy" for a shopping cart. I am doing well and we are working hard, we have a lot of little towns surrounding Swainsboro that we go to, the people here are kind and welcoming although they don't have much.  Our little church is small and adorable and meets our needs. Serving in a branch has been really great. Our branch mission leader is 87!  Well I hope you all have a Merry Christmas! If you haven't watched " He is the Gift" yet you should! You should all choose one thing you can do to as a gift for Christ this Christmas it does not have to be expensive just even a change of heart or attitude or a smile. I love you all tons!  Skyping with the family will be great, there is the less active family that wants us to come over, so it will be 5 your time but 7 for me, so excited!  Happy hot dog roasting!!  Merry Christmas Elder Thomas! Merry Christmas Elder Harrop!

Love,
Sister Price

SWAINSBORO- I GOT TRANSFERRED! DEC. 15, 2014

Hey Everyone!                                                           December 15, 2014

Ok so much has happened this week! I don't even know where to start. I think I will just go through day by day and try and get it all out. It could be just kind of like word vomit. I will start on Tuesday Dec. 9, since that is mostly when everything started happening. I just want to say that I hate packing! Seriously, it's the worst! Anyway Tuesday morning was just kind of spent frantically packing up things and trying to remember everything. It was really crazy and I was exhausted by 8:30 and the day was just barely starting! A really nice couple from the ward drove us to Macon and then they just left us and our stuff there since they didn't have to bring anyone back! It was really fun to see everyone at the transfer meeting! I got to see Sister Sevy and got all updated on how things are going in Columbus,it was fun, Sis. Sevy got transferred to Savannah! Then the meeting started and it was like the longest transfer meeting of my life! President drug it on forever. We finally got to the assigning of areas after an hour! He just likes to make the suspense last as long as possible. The first thing that happened is Sister Wheelwright went to Rivercrest! That is my area in Columbus! It is going to be a very interesting experience for her, it is absolutely the Ghetto!! Time will tell how things play out for her, but I loved it so much there!!  Then I was just sitting there in suspense and I was finally assigned to an area! I am in Swainsboro with Sister Woodard. It's a tiny little redneck town and we are about an hour away from any other missionaries. It's kind of weird to be so isolated after having 4 of us in an apartment together. Actually its alright! Our apartment has 2 bathrooms and 2 closets!!  I am in heaven! I guess this area started out with Elders but then something happened and the progressive Elders started to not be obedient and were kind of like “Elders gone wild”! I guess with it being so isolated and just a branch, they just didn’t know how to use their time wisely and work hard and self-motivate. The Elders have had a history of bedbugs, but at the moment it is bedbug free, but I am taking no chances I double mattress covered my bed and pillow with my bedbug resistant mattress cover!! Wednesday was a little weird because Sister Winward, who was the missionary I replaced had finished her mission but she didn't go straight home, her parents came to pick her up and then they toured the mission. It was kind of weird because then all day people were talking about how much they were going to miss her and I was just kind of like "hey here I am!" Not so sure about this whole “picking up thing”, it does cause disruption of the missionaries that are still on their missions. Anyway, so Wednesday was an interesting day with all of that happening.  Then Thursday we had our ZTM in Augusta. It was really weird to be back in the Augusta building! It takes us almost two hours to get to Augusta. ZTM was good, the zone leaders are fun except one is going home in three weeks so he spends most of his time crying! There are some very interesting Elders in this zone. Our district leader especially, he is just a little socially awkward but thats ok. Then Thursday night we had a lesson with the Spanish Elders because we have a spanish family we are teaching and the dad only speaks spanish! That was very interesting, not very easy. I prayed a lot and found that if I concentrated really hard I could mostly understand what everyone was saying! I now have a testimony of the gift of tongues, when I say I prayed alot it was alot!! It was really hard though and by the end I had a pounding headache. I think the lesson went well though! The wife basically taught the whole lesson and testified about how the church is true so that was awesome! So I now am on the fast track of teaching myself spanish! What a way to go towards the end of my mission!! I can do hard things! On Friday we had our zone conference in Statesboro, which is in the Savannah zone. It was really fun! I didn't know any of the missionaries there though! I felt like I knew a lot of missionaries but there was seriously only like 10 people I knew! It was a really good conference though. The temple president of the Atlanta temple spoke and that was really cool! We were all hoping they would announce that we had gotten permission to go to the temple but no such luck. We did get really awesome temple recommend holders though! They have the Atlanta temple on them and say "Georgia Macon Mission." Then Saturday Sister Woodard and I were both super exhausted because we had a super busy week we taught some good lessons though. Sunday we had 6 people show up to church! It was pretty awesome, that never happens!!  I did receive an awesome picture from Sister Sevy it was of “CARRIE GETTING BAPTIZED” I can’t even describe the joy I am feeling!!  Sister Sevy and I love her so much she will be so great and will progress so much now that she has taken this step!  Even when I got tranferred from Columbus we set a plan on how to best teach her, Sis. Sevy stuck with that plan and it was just what was needed!  I am working on trying not to be so, so jealous because neither Sis. Sevy or I were able to be at her baptism on 12/13/14 since Sis. Sevy was transferred, so in the picture of Carrie it is my recent companion Sis. Wheelwright and her new companion! I am actually so super excited beyond words, but Carrie is so coming back for another visit to utah after i get home!!

I am going to end this because I don't have a whole lot longer on the computer! The branch is very interesting. I guess the branch president can be a little cantankerous at times and has made Sister Winward and Sister Woodard cry but I think I will be ok because I have been around a lot of slightly belligerent men throughout my life. Right Dad? And Grandpa Price?  So bring it on!! Just kidding. But I do have a pretty thick skin! I really like Sister Woodard she is from Boise, Idaho and she went to Capital High!! She is “healthy” no allergies, no pains of any kind  can go running and exercise so that is awesome because I have 4 months to get back into shape! I secretly was praying that I would get a “healthy companion”! It is pretty awesome here and I love it so far! I hope you all have a great week! Love you all!
Love,

Sister Price

Good-bye Valdosta! Transfers - December 8, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Transfer time again and this time I got the call!!  I guess I have found and done what I was needed to do in this area!  It took me a little bit to get accustomed to this area, but it has now been really good. Made good friends, I even got the Elders to take out our trash consistently!  Very gentlemanly of them, although it helps that I made them cookies a lot and they bent our vacuum, but it was a good arrangement!  This has been the most "Southern" area I have experienced since being out here but we worked hard and now there is a great group of missionaries ready to carry on and be obedient and do good things!  Since there is a shortage of Sister missionaries the remaining two sisters will be in the Young Adult Branch and the Elders will be in all the home wards.  Both Sister Wheelwright and I will be traveling to Macon tomorrow as we are both getting new areas.  There is a kind member that will drive us since neither of us will be returning the car will stay here.  I have met and worked with some awesome ward members.  The Robinsons are a family that has been so great to us!! They have a daughter serving in the Salt Lake mission, right now she is in Stansbury Park area.  She has been out for only 3 months, so they have a soft spot for the missionaries out here.

Well this has been quite the week! Monday we had a great lesson with Tina and her daughter. They are doing really great. Then on Tuesday we had an awesome lesson with the part member family! He totally got baptized on Saturday. It was awesome! Ok and then funny story that happened on Tuesday. So on Monday we got a media referral who wanted a Book of Mormon. Her name was Shamika. I don't know about ya'll but when I think of the name Shamika I think of a black person. I mean, I have met quite a few black Shamika's. So we go to contact this person and this white guy opens the door. I was thinking ok, this guy is white, but Shamika is still definitely black. We ask for her and the guy points to this white girl sitting on the couch! We were totally shocked! A white Shamika. Anyway we ended up teaching her and she is going to come to church with her family this next Sunday! Too bad we won't be there, that is the hardest part to leave investigators! Then on Saturday Chris got baptized! It was super awesome. We got to skype the temple square sisters in so they could watch! It was all super awesome. This year we got to see the Christmas Devotional because the Robinsons had some investigators over to watch it with us!  Last year we did not get to see it since there was no investigators with us.  Sister Robinson took pictures of us and sent them to you Mom through text.  I am going to miss her and their family.  Her husband is the Branch President of the Young Adult Ward.  I never did get to go to the Alligator Farm that was here, it was always raining or we were busy, so as of yet I have not seen an Alligator!! Thanks for figuring out how to copy and paste some of Calebs email/blog letters since I can't open blog sites. Caleb has done really well with his letters, lots of good information and letting us all know how things are with him (Gage will be proud of Calebs letter information abilities)  and now he is in PERU!  Glad at this time he is doing well ! Crew did a super job decorating our tree and I hear his brownies were a hit that he made all from Scratch, no box, sorry though about losing track of time and getting in trouble.  I am kind of in shock and I don't know what else to write. Sorry if this is a pathetic email. I don't really know what else to say. We were saying good-bye to lots of people yesterday! I am really sad I won't be here for Christmas, the Robinson family had a way awesome Christmas Day planned and we were all set to Skype from their computer!  That's alright, Heavenly Father has another plan and I'm excited to see what I am needed to do and where I am going to serve!! Well my brain is not working very well so this is probably about all you will get today! Sorry it's so short! Have a good week everyone!

 Love,

Sister Price

Thanksgiving and Now its December, December 1, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Well I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! Mine was good! It wasn't very eventful though. Monday towards the end of P-day I started feeling really terrible again so I just stayed in and rested. It was pouring rain all night anyway and there were tornado warnings so it wasn't a terrible night to have to stay in. Tuesday morning we went and did service for a group called "Second Harvest" who were giving out food for Thanksgiving. It was pouring rain pretty much the whole time! Let me say, raincoats are great, but they don't keep the rain out forever when it's pouring rain! I thought for sure I was going to make myself sick again but I survived. We did it from 7-12 in the morning. The Elders wouldn't stop making fun of me because my hands got cold and so they turned this weird gray-blue color and it was creeping them out. I had to go home after and take a really hot shower and then I wasn't feeling so hot so I thought I would lay down for a bit and ended up like passing out for 3 hours. Apparently people tried to wake me up but I wasn't having any of it. Then Wednesday I was finally feeling like a normal person again! Plus it stopped raining on Wednesday so we could go out and actually do missionary work and not have people think we were crazy! Yay! Wednesday we had our district meeting to introduce the initiative the church is starting. It is called "He is the Gift" and it is a pretty cool video! The website is really awesome too! It has tons of info and really fun short movies. It's pretty great. Then that evening we went and saw this slightly crazy referral. That was an interesting experience. Then Thursday was Thanksgiving. The eating marathon! We started out the day at Cracker Barrel around 11. I knew we would have Thanksgiving dinner so I got breakfast! I got french toast and it was super yummy. Then we had a dinner with a less active who lives at a retirement home. That was interesting. I just have to say that I strongly dislike dressing. It is just not good and I am very thankful I don't have to ever eat it again! Also, macaroni and cheese is just not a Thanksgiving food! Then we had a break to digest for a while and we went over to the Robinsons. They are super awesome! They had normal Thanksgiving food like stuffing and rolls and potatoes and gravy. It was really delicious! I was super full though. Then we went to a family after that and had dessert! It was a pretty full day. Then Friday Sister Wheelwright got sick but we struggled out a lesson with the family we have been working with. He is getting baptized on Saturday so that is super exciting! Another exciting thing is that his son was at the lesson also and he expressed interest in going to church and learning more! It is all super awesome. Friday night a member of the bishopric called and asked if I would speak on Sunday so I ended up giving a talk on keeping the commandments/following the savior/whatever I felt like I could talk about for ten minutes at short notice. I talked about how keeping the commandments relates to having a broken heart and a contrite spirit. I have been reading the bible dictionary lately because that is what you do when you have read everything else multiple times. I came across the scriptural definition for the word "peculiar" and I really liked it! The scriptural definition for the word "peculiar" is "the Lord's own special people or treasure." We have always heard ourselves described as a peculiar people, thinking we are odd, which we are, but when the Lord calls us peculiar people in the scriptures he means we are his treasure! Ya'll might have already known this but it's a new discovery for me and I thought it was cool. That's about all I have for today! Hope everyone has a great week!

Sister Price

RAIN AND THE PLAGUE! November 24, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Well this week everyone except Sister Wheelwright got what we have dubbed "the plague!" Basically it starts out with your throat getting super sore and your tonsils feel like they have tripled in size. Then you feel like death for about 24 hours and then it just goes back to a sore throat and you start feeling better. I hit the death stage yesterday (Sunday) and today my throat is still pretty sore but I no longer feel like death(until the Advil wears off! It was a good day to feel like death though because it was storming like crazy so it would have been hard to get work done. Ok now to remember what happened during my week.
Monday was fairly uneventful. We finished up P-day and then we went out to tract but then Sister Wheelwright didn't feel well so we came back in. Tuesday we had district meeting and then I headed to Douglas on exchanges with Sister Madsen! It was really fun! I love Douglas because everyone there is SO southern and they all have really strong southern accents. It's awesome! We had a really good time and talked about lots of things. She really helped me with some of the things I have been struggling with lately and I was able to help her get better at using the Pamphlets especially on teaching the "Plan of Salvation" she says that one has always been hard for her to teach.  She is a pretty awesome missionary! I went to the meeting with their ward mission leader and he has one of those" Segway" (pretty sure I spelled that totally wrong) things that you stand on and zoom around on that he wanted us to ride, like the "zoomy" things off of "Mall Cop" the movie!  He was really impressed that I didn't fall off the first time because he said that most people do because its a weird feeling. Whatever, I just have skills! It was really fun, those things are cool! Then I came back to Valdosta. I don't really remember what happened on Wednesday. We had coordination meeting and then we did something. Thursday was a good day! That was the day the other sisters had the" plague "so they stayed in all day. We went to Quitman (small town) and spent quite a bit of time out there. Then we had dinner with the senior couple and went to a lesson with them! They are way cool! They are both converts, from the South-ish. Sister Swank's dad was a Presbyterian minister! She said he had a hard time with her conversion. Then they went with us to a lesson! We had a lesson with Dot, she is always interesting. Last week she told a story about how she cast out a "demon" and this week she said she believes in "Black Jesus"! That is a big thing in the South. You have to be careful with how  you talk about Jesus or people will go on a rant about"Black Jesus". It was a pretty good lesson though! Then Friday we worked on our map a lot. We got a lot done! There is a ridiculous amount of less actives though. If we could activate everyone in Quitman they could totally have their own branch! Oh and we did visit an old lady who lives in Quitman who kept asking us the same questions. It was pretty funny. She is really sweet though. She asked us if we were enjoying the weather like four times. Saturday was good, we had lunch with Mary, she is so cool! She is going to take us to Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving morning! We have not had any Thanksgiving invites this year! It has been so weird! Last year we had a ton. I take that back we just had a family invite us over and they are awesome so we are excited! The poor Elders haven't had any invites yet, I feel really bad for them! The Stake is doing this really cool "He is the gift initiative",  kind of like what they did at Easter except bigger! We even get special pass along cards for it! I am super excited! Saturday I started feeling really bad, I got the fever and chills and my throat felt so sore and swollen but we had an appointment to teach a recent convert family who are really cool and love us to come over and talk with them about what they are reading in the Book of Mormon. (their house is not the cleanest but they are cool).  I did not want to take my germs to their kids or them but my companion had a bit of an issue about going with one of the other Sisters in our apartment because of this house issue.  I told her that these people needed to be visited and they were expecting the missionaries to come!  I finally lost my "temper" a bit and told her that If she did not go that I was going to "shiver" my way to their house with her in tow and that she was not having "Charity for them and they just wanted to learn more about the Book of Mormon"!  She then went with one of the other Sisters and they were visited and it all turned out well! Yesterday (sunday) I mostly just felt like "death" all day, though we did have a lesson with the part member family. He has been almost two weeks without smoking! Yay! We also got a call from the temple square sisters who have been working with him and they get to skype in for the baptism! It's going to be way awesome! It was weird to get a call from Utah.  I have been reading" Acts" this week and I have decided that Paul is kind of like the New Testament version of" Elder Holland". He is pretty intense. Anyway I was reading and I really loved this scripture! Well I can't remember the scripture so it will have to wait until next week! My Advil is wearing off and I am starting to feel really awful again! Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Remember to say "Thanks" for your blessings!  I am saying Thanks for having the knowledge to know what drugs to take that my super smart Dad had me bring out here just for these occasions of sickness!  I love you all!

Love,
Sister Price

(Note from Sis. Price's Mom, she is feeling much better as of Thanksgiving Day.  The sweet family that fed them dinner sent us a text and picture of her and we were able to ask some questions that she could answer, so we know she is again Healthy and strong!  We are thankful for the kindness of the members in Georgia assisting our loved Missionaries!)

I CAN REMEMBER, MY BRAIN DOES WORK RANDOMLY! NOVEMBER 17, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Ok so I totally remembered what happened this week! Yay! Miracles do happen! For real though, last week was terrible. Last Monday was fairly uneventful. Not much happened. Most of the week we spent planning for Grandpa Red's memorial ( the old fellow who passed away after we cleaned his house). Tuesday morning we had a really great lesson with the part member family we have been working with. We taught the Word of Wisdom. He has a smoking problem and has been working on quitting since last December and said that it was ironic we taught that lesson because he had just started smoking again! He has since recommitted to quit and has been smoke free for 5 days now. They are pretty awesome! Then we helped plan the memorial for Grandpa Red which was interesting....mostly because neither of us really knew him and the family had no idea what they were doing! Then we had a lesson in this town named Morven which is about 30 minutes away from Valdosta. We cover a bunch of little outlying small towns that are each about 30 minutes away in all different directions. We cover Quitman, Morven, Hahira, Lake Park, and some others that I can't remember right now. It's fun. Anyway it was a referral from the ward mission leader and its a lady who comes into his dentist office. I guess she was taught by the missionaries a few years ago and she was recently telling him about it so he decided to ask if she would like to meet with them again! It was an interesting lesson but she let us come back and we had a really good lesson last night so its good! She is really nice, she has some very interesting theories and experiences but then again most people in the South do, they love talking a bit about demonic spirits and casting them out and they are always a bit obsessed with gifts of the spirit!  We just have to really stay on task and firmly teach what is true!  Wednesday was not real exciting, and Thursday we had ZTM which was a tad bit boring. I honestly can't really remember a lot of what we talked about. Oops. Friday we had Grandpa Red's memorial. They had Sister Wheelwright give a talk so she freaked out about that for a long time. It was a very interesting memorial. There weren't really many people there and the people from his family who spoke were really short in their thoughts and didn't really say much about his life. It was very different. Oh and on Friday there was a senior couple who came to the memorial service, They are here as military relations. Their name is the Swanks and they are from Cedar City. They both seem really nice! Then on Saturday we spent most of the day weekly planning because I wanted to do a really good job and have lots of plans so that we always have something to do. I have been slacking on that a little lately so it has been a little more difficult. Yesterday was really awesome! Church was good and we had a lesson with the part member family (the Dad is not a member and asked me the question about Jesus being a God also).  He was talking with us and all of a sudden he was like" oh ya I am getting baptized Dec. 6."!  We were like oh ok really? I guess he had a lesson with the temple square missionaries and they put him on date! I had been feeling like we could put him on date for sometime in December but it never felt like the right time so I guess they were supposed to do it! It was awesome though! lt has been fun working with them and then hearing about the temple square missionaries. It's pretty awesome to see how he has progressed from being unsure to being totally dedicated to baptism! He does have some medical problems but as long as he takes his medication he is really good and he understands and is accountable for his choices, his wife is really good about helping him.  He knows he has to work hard and he has studied and prayed very hard so that he knows the difference between the "Holy Ghost" and then the other more random thoughts that he struggles with.  It's awesome how he has been blessed as he has learned gospel principles with all aspects of his life! Caleb will be just fine as he heads for Peru today!  Each missionary has different types of being homesick.  I know that for me it feels like an "Eternity" since I have seen ya'll, and I mostly can't believe that I have actually survived because I didn't think I would.  I mean I knew I would be the best missionary I could be but I also could not imagine on Oct. 2, 2013 where I would be or how I would survive a year from that time. I can't say that time has gone by fast and I feel like a part of me is "missing" everyday, I hope that all makes sense!  Just yesterday in our apartment the other sisters were saying that they rarely get homesick, I was like "I'm homesick all the time!  But I have just learned to deal with it and compartmentalize it in a corner of my mind and then I work just as hard as I can because "Work" is the best cure and sharing the gospel and watching how peoples lives change there is no words to describe! The Lord always sends us Tender Mercies to lift us up, sometimes we don't realize it at the time until we look back at recognize it for the blessing that it was for us. For me it was the letters and packages that would randomly come from Karen and Tammy and family members, its amazing how much just a simple card with "Have a good week" on it is such a blessing.  I was blessed with the Meachams the older couple who helped with the ward in my first area but also really helped us missionaries, I don't know how I would have acclimated for the first 6 months of my mission without them.  So Heavenly Father is always watching out for us even when we feel our lowest, prayer is awesome and you can communicate with him anytime anywhere!  We have a really great week planned so it should be good! We have exchanges this week and I am going to Douglas again so that should be fun! I don't have a specific spiritual thought this week just kind of some thoughts. I have been reading the New Testament and I am currently in Acts. I am really enjoying seeing the growth in Christ's apostles. They start out dedicated and knowing they want to follow Christ but to see their testimonies grow is cool. Especially Peter, he goes from having faith and dedication but not being quite sure how to do what he wants to do, to this amazing leader of the church with unwavering faith! It's pretty awesome. I am enjoying the cool weather and am still thankful every day that I only had one summer here! I love all of you and hope you have a great week! It was great hearing about Sister Woods homecoming, sometime soon it will be mine!

Love,

STOMACH FLU AND WARD PARTIES! NOVEMBER 10, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Well it has been another fairly uneventful week. I think. I might remember something exciting. We have mostly just been working on finding people. Seriously though I can't remember. This is probably going to be the lamest email ever. I apologize. On Friday we had interviews with President Cottle in Tifton basically he asks me how am I doing and I answer "Fine", and then we are done.  I rarely go into details about stuff cause I don't want to take his time, he always seems so busy and when it is interview time he always seems behind and pre-occupied, but you know me, I just be obedient, follow the rules and work as hard as I can. We also had an activity for the recent converts/less actives/investigators on Friday night. We didn't have the greatest attendance but it was the first time! It was good for a first time Ward and Missionary activity since we didn't really know what we were doing. We watched some mormon messages and then had ice cream and played an interesting combination of pictionary/family feud. Then Saturday Sister Wheelwright got a bad case of the stomach flu that has been going around and she got it! I felt really bad for her! I also think I slightly offended her because I kept following her around and disinfecting where she had been. I just didn't want anyone else to get it! I did get sick last night but it was only a few hours and I took some Zofran and this morning I feel fine. Sorry this email is so short and non descriptive! I seriously feel like I am losing my mind because I can't remember anything. I will repent and do better next week! The weather has been nice this week. I have been reading the New Testament the past few weeks and I have decided that I really like the book of John! It is one of my favorites. Our lesson in Relief Society yesterday was on prayer and I really liked it. This is probably one of my favorite quotes from the lesson, "I wonder if we ever stop to think why the Lord has asked us to pray. Did he ask us to pray because he wants us to bow down and worship him? Is that the main reason? I don’t think it is. He is our Heavenly Father, and we have been commanded to worship him and pray to him in the name of his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. But the Lord can get along without our prayers. His work will go on just the same, whether we pray or whether we do not. … Prayer is something that we need, not that the Lord needs. He knows just how to conduct his affairs and how to take care of them without any help from us. Our prayers are not for the purpose of telling him how to run his business. If we have any such idea as that, then of course we have the wrong idea. Our prayers are uttered more for our sakes, to build us up and give us strength and courage, and to increase our faith in him." We pray because we need it! Prayer is meant to help us align our will with Heavenly Father's, not to just give him a list of things we think we want/need. There is a section in Preach My Gospel that I really like that talks about prayer. It talks about how when we pray we should be guided by the Spirit as to what to pray for. Definitely easier said than done! That is about all I have for this week! I hope ya'll have a good week! Love ya!

Love,
Sister Price
P.S. Tell Sister Wood Hello for me, and if you see the Meachams a super hello to them!!  I can't believe Sister Wood is home!!

Happy Halloween and Now it is November! November 3, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Well this has been quite the week. I feel like I have been doing everything but missionary work this week! I don't like weeks like this, it makes me feel like not a missionary and then I get more homesick and stuff. Not cool. It all started out with Monday. Remember when I talked about the old fellow whose house we went and cleaned? Well he passed away on Monday and after we were done emailing the grandson called and asked if there was anyone who could bring them meals. Well I called all of the relief society people to no avail and so there wasn't anyone answering. Finally they got back and said that no one could take food that night but they would do something for the rest of the week. We felt bad so we decided to make them some food. We had a ton of stuff to make spaghetti because along with the 90 lbs of rice someone dropped off enough spaghetti and sauce to feed an army so we made that and took it over and that pretty much used up the whole night. Then that night we get a text from the AP's and the Elders saying that the Elders couldn't find a ride to transfers so could they please take our car....that meant we would have to walk all day Tuesday which I am fine with, I am actually getting really good at walking and can walk like 2 miles in 35 minutes and feel fine. However the closest people we visit are like 5 miles or more away because we are a driving zone so it kind of killed our plans for the day. Plus our car is only 3 weeks old and I mean seriously....Elders taking it all the way to Macon? We knew it wasn't going to return the same!! That just started Tuesday out. We were supposed to have a meal with a family at five but we weren't sure if our car would make it back in time! We called to let them know and they were like freaking out about it but we got it figured out. Then the Elders called 45 minutes before we were supposed to be there and said they were an hour behind schedule and wouldn't be there for another hour at least! So then we had to call and cancel dinner and that made the lady super mad. Ugh. Then they didn't get our car back until 6:30 and they had scratched and dented the trunk with the bike rack! It looks awful! Our poor car! It's not even a month old! We were also late for our 6:00 appointment. That just started out the week and the whole week went pretty much like that. Sister Waycott is training this transfer and her trainee is really cool! She is from Alaska! She says that I can totally come visit her and go hunting/fishing. It's going to be awesome! We have driven a lot this transfer so we were pretty much out of miles on our car this week so we decided to redo our map! It looks super awesome! We even got laminate and made it really pretty looking. Also, funny story. So we haven't gotten any supply orders for stuff we needed last transfer! That meant that we didn't have any planners to use for the new transfer! We had to end up using some spanish planners that we found in the apartment. It has been super funny. We got supplies this week though so I now have an English planner again! We were on lockdown Friday and Saturday because there was a huge rival football game happening in Valdosta so they postponed Halloween to Saturday. Fun stuff. Lockdown was good, we made the cookie mix it looks disgusting but it was Halloween, they tasted good.  We also did our weekly planning, played the Book of Mormon card game you sent and then our apartment just had a "Harry Potter Clue Game" that was left here.  I made clam chowder, I forgot to put in a diced onion but it tasted good anyway.  Then when we woke up Sunday morning the Elders had Colored all over the windows of our car! Seriously we couldn' t even see. We will get them back though. We are going to be super nice to them and pretend like we don't care and then in a week or two when they aren't suspecting it we are going to put glitter and pink streamers all over their bikes! Oh and Mary took us to lunch at this pizza place on Saturday and it was super delicious! Probably like the best pizza I have ever had! It was way good! We also had a really good lesson with the Bush's on Friday. It was funny because I started out asking if he had any questions and he said "yes" and his first question was "Is Jesus Christ God?" and I was expecting a question with a complicated answer so it took me a minute to process that one! I was like well ya! I guess he was watching some you tube thing and the lady said that if you ask a mormon if Jesus Christ is God they will always say no. I was glad I passed that question! I just hope that the whole "Trinity" question does not "rear its head".  Ok so my spiritual thought this week. I was reading in D&C and this scripture just really popped out to me when I read it! I think its because sometimes I struggle with loving people and loving my area. I have always struggled with that though, I really like to build walls around myself! It's a revelation to Thomas Marsh and it is D&C 112:11  " I know thy heart, and have heard thy prayers concerning thy brethren. Be not partial towards them in love above many others, but let thy love be for them as for thyself; and let thy love abound unto all men, and unto all who love my name."I just really liked the part where it says  "let thy love abound unto all men, and unto all who love my name." When I read it I just felt like that was something I really needed to do! It is something that I will be working on! Well I hope everyone had a fun Halloween! I love you all and hope you have a great week!

TOGETHER AGAIN AND SURPRISE VISIT FROM PRESIDENT COTTLE, TRUNK OR TREAT, OCTOBER 27, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Well another transfer has come and gone! Sister Wheelwright and I are staying together again which is going to be good.  A week ago Monday my companion decided to have some issues with some teaching skills that are required throughout the mission, I thought that we had come to a pretty good co-operative working situation.  Living in an apartment with 4 girls does have challenges namely "Girl Head Games".  I don't play those games, at the pharmacy when my Dad was irritating me we "Hashed it out" then all was good and life went on!  So  I made her talk things out last week which made her a little huffy but she got over it and things have been going better. Wow this week!  I feel like I am losing my mind because I can hardly remember what has happened during my weeks. Everything just kind of blurs together. Sometimes I am just super EXHAUSTED AND TIRED and mostly feel like a zombie. Speaking of zombie's, each of us in our apartment have taken turns having ebola/zombie dreams. I had a dream where Ebola mutated into some sort of Zombie causing disease. Probably because we have 90 lbs of rice at our apartment and so we were joking with the Elders that in case of the zombie apocalypse they could get permission from President Cottle to come hole up in our apartment and we could live on Rice and canned chicken until it gets all figured out because we have like 20 cans of chicken and tuna. Thus the Ebola/zombie dreams. Tina chastised us for not watching the news and said that we need to use hand sanitizer all the time so we don't get Ebola! Apparently its the new big thing that everyone is talking about.
Ok so trying to remember my week. I also forgot my planner which I usually use as a mini diary to remember what we did during the week. I am a mess. Tuesday was a really good day and we talked to lots of people and had some really good lessons. The part member family we are teaching is doing really well. The Dad says he wants to be baptized, he just has some issues to work out first and he wants to take it slow. They also have a 14 year old son who is coming around! We had some very interesting lessons this week with some interesting people with some very interesting beliefs. We are still mostly in the finding process. Sister Wheelwright is really good at contacting though so I am learning a lot from her in that area! (ya'll know how I love tracting)!   I am helping her read" Jesus the Christ"  because the length and the long words and complicated language Elder Talmage uses intimidate her so that has been fun! We have come up with some fun new phrases like "transcendantly glorious" and something else that I can't recall at this moment. (I do love big, thick, books with wonderful descriptive Words).
Our ward had a trunk or treat this weekend which was really fun! We had a really good turnout with non members and less actives that came! It was pretty great and our trunk was decorated pretty fantastically! We cut open a bunch of glow sticks and sprayed them all over the car and the next day it hadn't all come off so we got super paranoid because it is a brand new car but then it faded so we are very relieved! We tried to take pictures but you couldn't really get a good picture of the glow stuff but its still cool! Everyone loved it! We modeled it after the scripture story in" 2 Kings" when ELISHA the PROPHET dies and they bury him in a "Sepulchre" (our trunk) Then quite a bit of time passes and the Israelites are having a funeral for a man who has died. Suddenly they are descended upon by a marauding band of men. The Israelites get scared and hurry and throw the  dead man into the Sepulchre of Prophet Elisha. When his body touches Elisha's bones he comes back alive and jumps out of the Sepulchre! Now that beats all this fake Zombie stuff and continues to show the POWER OF EVEN A PROPHETS BONES!  All of the ward members looked at us  Sister Missionaries like we were crazy when we told them the story but it was still really fun and fits HALLOWEEN!  I got your package mom and it came just in time for our Saturday trunk or treat so we all wore the "flashing pumpkin necklaces".  Then a bit of sadness the Elderly fellow that all of us missionaries super cleaned his house so he would not get evicted, well he passed away.  I think the house was to clean and the germs were keeping him alive! I loved the emails, Camille looked very concentrated on her ballet.  Thank you for the information on Uncle Burt, he was truly a great man, very quiet and super busy all the time. He will be missed, but he was a trouper there were many times I remember that he was not suppose to survive a lot of things!  I have not heard from Sister Wood, she is probably in flight headed home as I email today, so I don't know exactly when in November her homecoming will be or which church in Vernal.  Oh, well.  I got the IPOD!!  It has all conference on there and the other favorite talks, we all love the Lemonade song from Alex Boye, you did real good!  I also absolutely love the "Gary Bracelet" I can wear it no problem, thank Sister Cox for braiding the hair and you did good Mom getting the ends into those little things so it can clip, I love it!!  Just saying only 23 more P-Days! The days just whiz by and I feel like I am hurrying but there is so much to do and boy am I "Tired", I have never felt so tired!  But its all good it means the work is hastening forward!  I can't believe the Holidays are upon us!  Oh and if anyone is wanting to send me packages (this is not me begging for packages, just an informative thing) please don't send me candy! We get so much candy from the ward members and everyone that I don't need anymore! I also don't need chap stick or hand sanitizer.  I hope everyone has a fun Halloween! Read "2 Kings" it is like a Halloween spiritual thought, especially chapter 13. I will be on lockdown in the apartment doing weekly planning. Yay! Love you all!  Love to Uncle Burts Family!!

Love,
Sister Price

P.S. I forgot to include two weeks ago President Cottle came to our zone and did a surprise visit.  Well us Sisters were doing well and were up and doing what we were suppose to. But the Elders were still in pajamas, lounging about not doing anything-they got Chastised- We have an Elder serving here from South Africa, he has been a  member for 5 years, not sure what his deal is but really disobedient!  Well lets just say our whole little disobedient group of Elders have been split up and transferred all over the mission!  Will be interesting to see who gets transferred in.  Anyway, Love you all lots, thanks for the support!

MIRACLES AND EXCHANGES, OCTOBER 20, 2014

Hey Everyone!!

This has been a good week! Sister Wheelwright and I still have a few kinks in our relationship that I'm not sure how to fix. Oh well. I will start with Tuesday. Tuesday we had exchanges and I went to Douglas with Sister Taylor. It was awesome! Douglas is fantastic and I love it! I want to serve there before my mission is over. The members are great and I just had a great time there. I loved the small-ish town. That is like the first place I have been on my mission where I got there and I was just like I love it here! Anyway it was super fun. Wednesday wasn't super exciting but Thursday was good! We got a media referral last week for this guy in our ward and it is a part member family. The message just said they wanted to learn more! So we called them and set up an appt for Thursday. Turns out the wife is a member and the husband is not a member and has been pretty anti their whole marriage so she hasn't come to church so that they can kind of keep the peace. I guess the husband has struggled with some mental health disorders and so he gets emails about various things people say about mental health issues. He got an email that some one from the LDS church had shared a message about mental health but he deleted the email so when he went to watch it he wasn't sure which talk it was. He ended up watching all of the April General Conference in one sitting! He said he did it because he was looking for things to criticize and complain about to his wife. Instead the opposite happened! His heart softened and he got on mormon.org and started chatting with missionaries. Then they referred him to us and we have been teaching him and they came to church on Sunday! It was so cool! As soon as he started sharing his experience the spirit came into the room and it was just like BAM. It was awesome. On Saturday we went up to Hahira (ha long a hira long i) and parked and then walked around for a few hours. We walked quite a ways! It was really fun and we talked to some pretty cool people. Then yesterday was good! We had another lesson with the part member family after church and it was good. There was also another part member family who came to church and the wife wants to learn more so we are going to start teaching her this week! Miracles are just happening right and left here! Those are pretty much the mail things that happened this week. Sorry this email is so short, I feel like a slacker! This week just wasn't super eventful. It is the last week of the transfer though! I can't believe it! It has gone by really fast! When Elder Kopischke came he told us that we need to start memorizing scriptures so I have been working on that! My goal is to memorize 170 scriptures before I go home! We will see how that works out. Ha ha. I hope everyone has a great week!

Love,
Sister Price

Crazy Week!! October 13, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Wow! This has been a super crazy week! Mary was baptized on Saturday! We had to teach her everything in a week and a half! It was crazy! We taught like 4 lessons in one night! The member we had with us was a total trooper and went along with the whole thing. She just wants to know everything! She is way cool. Ok so now I will go by one day at a time because it is easier to remember things that way. Not that I can remember anything as it is. My companion says I have a freakish memory of all the rules and every training I have ever heard about anything so I guess that is crowding out all other information in my brain! I guess it's like when I had a freakish memory of so many things at the pharmacy. Now I forgot what I was going to say. Alright well we will start with Monday. Monday we went to see Tina to see how she was doing and on Monday she was doing well! We saw one of the recent converts named Barbara and she told us the person who is also a recent convert who rents a room from her named Wilbert was in the hospital because he had a stroke! Now he is in an assisted living facility. He is recovering a lot faster than they thought he would so that is good. Tuesday is when we taught the marathon lesson to Mary. I had a huge headache after that was over! We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Tithing and fast offerings, Word of wisdom and law of chastity! It was crazy. Wednesday we were supposed to have a lesson with Tina on Wednesday but she wasn't there and she wasn't answering her phone! This is the start of the drama that was Tina this week! Just wait, it gets better. Wednesday evening Mary had her baptismal interview. She passed of course. Thursday we had ZTM. It was ok! Not the best that I have been to but that's ok. I got to see Sister McNeely again! That was fun. We also got a brand new car! I guess mission cars get sold when they get over 50,000 miles and ours was over that so on Thursday we got a brand new 2015 Toyota Corolla! It is super duper nice! Although the new car smell does make me slightly naseous sometimes. We had dinner with the Bishops family that day and Bishop was telling us all sorts of crazy stories about his mission! He went to the same mission in Taiwan his parents had been mission presidents of. Then while he was on his mission his parents got called to be the temple president of the temple in Taiwan and for the last 6 months of his mission he lived in the same apartment complex as his parents! There were just all sorts of crazy stories. Then life was pretty calm until Saturday afternoon. Saturday morning was really nice, we had Mary's baptism and it was just great. We were feeling great and happy and then in the afternoon we got a call from this sister in the ward saying she was on her way to pick up Tina for her baptism! Mind you we hadn't been able to get in touch with Tina since Monday and had not been planning for her to be baptized! It was a huge mess and we got majorly chewed out by the member for not letting her know, which was partially our fault but we didn't know she was going to pick Tina up so not all our fault! She had a lot of other things stressing her out so mostly she just kind of needed to rant. She is an interesting lady so we just let her vent. I kind of felt like I was back at the pharmacy. Well we ended up baptizing Tina Sunday after church because she didn't want to wait a whole week! We also baptized her daughter. So lots of prayers for them that they make it through this week and to church next Sunday so they can be confirmed! That was basically my crazy week! I am running a little short on time so there isn't a spiritual thought this week! I will just challenge everyone to choose one thing from conference to work on and improve! That is my week in a nutshell! Have a great week everyone and I love you all!

Love,
Sister Price

ONE YEAR!! OCTOBER 6, 2014

Hey Everyone!

Ok. I am trying to remember my week. It seems like the longer I am out the harder it is to remember anything including what happened last week. I guess that is why journals are so important! The old man whose house we helped clean passed his house inspection so he gets to stay living in his house. We had zone conference on Friday! That was really good! Wednesday we had a really busy day! We taught Tina and talked with her daughter. Her daughter just turned eight so they are deciding if she wants to get baptized the same day as her mom. Tina's baptism is scheduled for Saturday so hopefully they make the decision soon! We also had dinner with a family and a referral! It was so awesome. The referral's name is Mary. She has been lots of religions and has been researching things for a long time. She said she has kind of had contact with the LDS church and has observed people over the years. I guess one day she went up to Sister Ruddle (she is a member) and asked her if she was LDS and if she could go to church with her! We taught her and she wants to be baptized this week! We have a lot to teach her but she is really great! She came to conference and she loved it! The weather has also been great this week. It was super humid the until Saturday and we went out Saturday and it was nice and cool and I didn't feel like I needed gills to breathe! It was amazing! I think I have officially survived my summer in Georgia! I hope to never have to go through that again. Once is more than enough. I'm not cut out for this kind of climate. Zone conference on Friday was great! I got to see Sister McNeely and that was fun! She looks really good. President was seeing how well we knew the scriptures so he was calling people up to role-play and I got called! I wasn't sitting by Sister Wheelwright because there wasn't enough room so I was sitting right behind her. He called my name and then he paused for a minute and said Sister Trout was going to come up with me! He must have noticed that we had kind of shocked looks on our faces because he said "wait you aren't companions?" and we were like nope! He said maybe it was inspiration. It went really well though! He had questions about resurrection so we read Alma 40 when Alma is talking to Corianton and talked about that. Elder Poti (one of the assistants) said that it was one of the best role plays he had seen in the zone conferences so I guess that was good! I was super nervous and was really glad when it was over! We also got to do something else really cool but President asked us not to talk about it for a few weeks so that will be in a future email. :) Conference was awesome! I loved all of the talks! I loved Elder Robbins and how he talked about not letting the fear of man and the world sway you and cause you to lower your standards. When he said that lowering standards was a form of apostasy I was like oh wow! He isn't sugar coating anything! It was awesome though. I also really loved Elder Christofferson! I loved all of the talks about agency and how we choose who we become. There were a lot of people who talked about that. Helaman 5:12 was brought up a lot! I super loved Elder Klebingot's talk! I can't pronounce his name to save my life but I loved his talk! I love how practically he said we could apply the atonement in our lives. I loved how he talked about taking responsibility for our actions. I also liked what he said about repentance and how we need to be really good at it! I also liked what he said about forgiveness, how we need to be really, really good at that and don't ever think we are exempt from forgiving others! Basically I just loved everything about his talk and I just want to listen to it over and over! I loved President Eyring's talk about personal revelation! I love all of the examples from the scriptures that were given. I also loved all of the talks about the prophet and the leaders and how they are called and chosen and how it's impossible for them to lead us astray! My favorite at the end was Elder Bednar's! I just want to show that to everyone we talk to! Tell them that is why we do what we do and sometimes it is super awkward but it's just because we love you and we love Jesus even more! Seriously, everyone need to see that talk. I hope everyone loved conference as much as I did! I challenge everyone to take a principle you liked from conference and work hard to apply it more in your life. I know that you will be blessed and have the Holy Ghost with you more consistently as you do so! I love all of you and hope you have a super week!

Love,
Sister Price

Ok, I can't keep a secret, we got to see "Meet the Mormons", it was really good, I recommend it!!
