Maybe a Transfer?? February 10, 2014

February 10, 2014

 Hey Everyone!

Ok well it has been an interesting week. On Monday night when we were out tracting we ran into this lady who is less active who doesn't even have her records in the ward but she was really nice and let us in to talk! Her husband is in the army so they are here for a while for that. I guess her reason for not being active is because she feels like LDS people were always putting her down for having an education and having a career and not being just a stay at home mom. I can see how she would feel that way but now that we know where she is we can help her with her issues! She was really nice though. Then we were supposed to have a lesson with Shelldle but she stood us up. Her roommates said she wasn't home but we are about 99% sure she was home. Then we went over to see Shae. We haven't been able to see her much because she has been working a lot lately. She is having surgery today to remove the mass on her abdomen so she is nervous for that. We went over with the Elders last night to give her a blessing, it was very nice. The rest of our week has just been a lot of knocking! We finally got back in contact with some of our investigators. We got in contact with George, he is the one from Nigeria and we had another lesson with him where he asked a lot of questions. He has some interesting questions. He wanted to know why we don't televise our services so we had to explain about general conference is on television locally around Utah, it is on the internet also and is in our church houses through satellite.  The majority of our services are not televised because the LDS church is not a paid clergy and we do not seek for any outside payment for our church services.  Our services are open to any and all who want to visit but are not televised as they are special and sacred services to us. He also asked, that in his experience Mormons seem very honest and trustworthy, than why are people so wary of them? I answered Satan ( I felt strongly by the spirit to say that and I have learned to go with the spirit) but I was not  going to leave it at that but I think the member who was with us (Sister Dransfield, she is from Bountiful stationed here with her husband and family) felt like that was a little blunt so she said something about it, I can't remember what. Still so many misconceptions about the LDS church and Mormons!!

Oh and I guess Sister Wood's dad served here in Augusta on his mission so we went and visited the former Bishop who was serving while he was here. He was a nice old guy, they were very happy to have us visit them. We will have to go over there more often!  We finally got back in contact with Miles, he said he got busy with work because of the snow and his neighbor died so he hasn't been home lately. He said he would come to church yesterday but he never showed up. We are supposed to have a lesson with him tonight so we will see what he has to say. Then on Friday we had a really great lesson with Anthony! He is going to try and get work off  this Sunday so he can come to church, he got hired so he could work weekends so getting Sundays off is a struggle for him. Other than that we have just been knocking a lot! We have met some interesting people. One guy claimed he knew all about Mormons so we asked what he knew and he said something about a wooden submarine and Joseph Smith translated the third golden tablet. It took us a minute to connect the wooden submarine with the brother of Jared. We thought that was kind of funny. A few people said they have already met with missionaries but we are pretty sure they are getting us confused with Jehovah's Witness's. We get confused with them a lot! We also got a new ward mission leader called yesterday in church and we are excited to work with him! His name is Brother Rafn and his family just moved here because he is in the military. They could either be here until May or for a few years so we are hoping they are here for a few years! Their family was at our Missionary Ward Activity and he seems really excited about missionary work!

I finally got the dress and the belt, I really like it, good advice on that one Tammy! It is a good day today in the low 60’s but that is going to change the end of the week!! Possibly more SNOW!!  I know that you all are wondering of the ongoing “NECKLACE” SITUATION!  I just decided to accept it graciously and write a note stating Thank you.  I do feel that I am going to be transferred next week, I felt that even before the necklace situation.  I am glad that the missionary activity was a success and hopefully will help the continuation of members being missionaries but now that it is done I have had the feeling that I now have other work to do in another area. I feel that I could possibly be going either to the Savannah area or way up and over to Auburn, Alabama. I guess there is a small Young Single Adult Branch on the Auburn Campus and right now they need some missionaries to serve there.  They had Elders serving there but again temptation rises up and they were having a hard time with all the girls on campus.   ( I will leave it at that statement).  They think that the area will do better with some Sisters serving (yay for Sisters).  Mom, I know that Colton served on the Texas Tech Campus and had a singles branch he was a part of on his mission.  Hey cousin Colton how did you and your companion resist the temptation of being on Campus?  I remember your letters and I remember you talking about various situations when you served there but now that I may be a part of that how did you as Elders handle things?

I do love getting to know the people here in Georgia but I do feel like “Aaron in the book of Alma chapter 21”.  As I said before there are so many misconceptions about Mormons here and that we don’t believe in the Bible and that we worship Joseph Smith and he wrote the “Book of Mormon”.  I just wish that we as missionaries were  at least given a chance to explain and have an intelligent conversation about what our true beliefs are and do not twist them to serve their own purpose.  Well that is the joy of being a Missionary and trying in a small way to dispel the “Myths of Mormonism”! That is pretty much the happenings here in Augusta. Oh and sometimes when it rains it does smell really terrible here! (Paper Mill, Almost worse than lake stink!) I am not getting an extension so I have to finish! I love everyone! Thanks for the package Aunt Stephanie!

 Love Sister Kaitlyn Price

P.S.  Tell Michelle thanks, but I ran out of time at the library to totally answer her email but I’m thinking about her!! Good luck Dad on your interviews – Meredith keep him updated on who you think will be good for next year!  No one can take your place though I’m thinking!!
